Question

Why is it that the videos I record directly on to my computer take up SOOO MUCHH memory?

A video I just took only about 8 Mins long was over a whole gig!

Is there a way to make them smaller?

The quality wasn't even that good.

It gets smaller after you convert it. As far as quality, what did you expect from a 1/6 CCD imager with 290k effective pixels?!?!?

That is what DV does. ~4 gig per hour of imported video.

In my HDV world, the video uses about 4x more space.

Get an external drive for your computer.
