What would be the disadvantages of a nuclear family in terms of adaptation to different environments?

  1. There are fewer adults (two) than there could be in other family structures.  So, in the case of adversity, there are fewer thinkers and workers. Also, child care can be physically and emotionally draining. It is good to spread the responsibility.  


  2. The nuclear family is a modern myth. In UK, the two parents and two to four children really only really emerged after WW2. Before that most people lived in extended families. Evan the rich had their servants. The nuclear family is almost bound to fail because to the pressures it puts on each member. The extended family gave support to each so that they could function within the family.

    I view the modern support of the social services and therapists as replacing the extended family.

  3. Unity is the most important quality of nuclear familiy. If nuclear family fit unity, it wil can have success in advers enviroments. Nuclear fámily is really one very reforce system against adversity changes.
