Ok, we got a kitten like 1 month ago. Her name is Sasha, and she's about 2 and a half months old. I wanna start giving her wet cat food, like tuna, friskies, etc. I tried out Tuna with her but it gave her diarrhea.

How old should she be when i start giving her Wet cat food.

And do cats have periods? If they do how old are they when they start them. I want her to be well prepared if it happens. Are you suppose to put diapers on her?

  1. If your cat is not spayed it can go into heat and bleed.  That ussually starts at about 6 months old, they go pretty nuts so I would recommend spaying your cat.  I would give your cat dry food with wet mixed in or just dry and wet 2xs a week.  They need ruffage in their diet to keep them regular.

  2. ok..first off...if she is eating hard food...keep her on hard food..it is better for your cat anyways.  it helps clean their teeth, keep their teeth strong, ect.  wet food actually lacks some nutriants.

and cats do go into heat and have a period..but not often and not usually for the first year.  i never had to put anything on my cats because mine usually kept themselves very clean.  if you do so happen to notice any yuckiness, i would ask your vet about diapers, i know you can use them for dogs, but cats are well..bullheaded about these things and would probably rip it off anyways.

  3. It is actually best to give kittens only kitten food. It contains the ingredients kittens need to grow healthy and strong. I know it is more expensive, but high quality food is the best, like Iams or Science Diet. The cheaper foods contain more fillers, which will mean Sasha will have to eat more to get the nutrients she needs. In the long run, the higher quality food will last just as long as the cheap stuff, because she won't have to eat as much.

There are wet kitten foods you can give her now. I give my 6 month old kitten who weighs 5 pounds about 1/2 a small can or packet a day, 1/4 in the morning and 1/4 at night. She has solid stool.

Cats can bleed, but usually not much. It is best to get your kitten spayed so she does not go into heat or get pregnant. My little kitten just got that done today. I didn't want her to have surgery, but it is the right thing to do. Having your kitten fixed will help prevent other issues as well. Kittens heal fast and usually do not have any memory of the experience if you get it done at an early age.

Best of Luck. I know how fun kittens can be! Enjoy it now!

  4. You probably just introduced the new food to fast. Go slowly just a taste at a time. There is some controversy about wet versus dry food but my cats do fine on dry food with a spoonful of wet for a treat.

Cats don't have periods like people do but there is no reason for her to have to go through a heat cycle have her spayed by 6 months or so she will be happier and so will you. Good for you for taking in a kitten.
