About people who work at Burger King...

Question

Is it mandatory they wear gloves when preparing food? I saw a girl making burgers and she was putting the beef patties on the buns and then lettuce and tomato and cheese without wearing any gloves. I always thought they had to wear gloves. It seems unsanitary. Plus the patties are hot but she didn't seem to care about holding hot patties in her bare hands. Should I have complained?

I'm sure a lot of things are said to be mandatory, but that doesn't mean these a******s actually do it. People don't care.

Well, yes. A restaurant law is that all employees MUST wear gloves. Also they MUST WASH THEIR HANDS! But, yes, they should wear gloves!

I heard from someone only if there is a health warning

from the Dept. of Health do fast food workers are

required to wear plastic gloves when handling

food.  Otherwise, no gloves.

I never see them wearing gloves at my local bk, but the food always tastes bad there anyway so I don't go.

they arent suppose to wear gloves, but theyre suppose to wash their hands before being anywhere near the food. sanitation of the food is the least of your worries, the bad quality of the food is the thing that will hurt your health the most.

yes you should have, because odds are that she just got done mopping the floor with those same dirty hands. call the local health dept immediately

I use to work for mcD's when i was younger and they didn't have gloves either but about every 15 min or so everyone was required to wash there hands or use the sanitizer.  If the food is cooked to order which means it's not already made and then sit in a bin most germs will not last to long in the heat.  Im sure they have the same policy of washing and sanitizing, so i wouldn't worry about germs, but it may be a good idea to call and ask them.  Can't hurt :)

i personally  would not eat  from  any one  without gloves trust me  i dont care what place it is i would  of  said  something  nice  of  course  if  no  change  i  would  of  walked out  she  could  of  been  scratching  or  picking  then  touching  food  now  thats  gross

really yes it is mandatory for all fast food places to were gloves...i dont care as long as i dont see them dig up their butt or somthin im good..

Oh Yeah... you think that's bad one time I went there and there was a bite in my hamburger! I am done with BK. They are not sanitary there. One time I went there an used the restroom and there was c**p on the floor near the changing table. I came back a day later and it was still there. Don't go to BK

I work for a distributor for gloves. Honestly, i believe it is different for every state--but usually the way it works with the HD is

if you are handling food that is going to be cooked than you are not required to wear gloves.

Ready to eat foods are not to be prepared bare handed--ex salads and fruits etc....

Most companies take it upon themselves to buy gloves just becuase it makes people feel better when they see the employees wearing them. But im pretty sure it is not a law with cooked foods? thats grosst though! Hope i helped!

i wouldn't complain. they could be in good with the manager. restaurants are funny that way. best thing to do is to tell your friends not to buy food there when she's working. i would consider it unsanitary. but some people just don't care about it. that's why i don't eat fast food....

YES! If the health inspector were there they would fail! All the food preperation must be done with gloves! No matter where you work in the food industry

It's really your call. Things like that don't get under my skin nearly as much as the staff draggin' butt, or being just downright apathetic.

No they dont have to wear gloves but they do have to wash their hands coming back from the rerstroom and even every time you walk out of the kitchen area. i worked at burger king - You can complain all you want but as soon as you leave. all he will get told is ' dont worry people are crazy." then everyone would have a god laugh at your expense..

ok i am a manager for a fast food. and it is not mandatory to wear gloves. it is mandatory to wash hands between stations.......ex..... i will go grab hamburger meat and put it on the grill.... wash the hands, sanitize then make the sandwhich.... then wash and sanitize..... then stock..... then wash and sanitize and so on.... she should have been reported!!!!
