About room thermostats?

Question

a mains opetated room thermostat requires three conductors to enable to enable it to operate correctly.can you connect the thermostat to an existing two core and cpc cable?

The problem with two core is that your appliance will not be  Earthed and as such may cause an electric shock

NO-not in the UK-the CPC is known as the circuit protective conductor-and as such is the earth wire-It's cross sectional area is smaller than the conductors, I'm assuming there was just a standard mechanical stat there before?.

Other option is buy a wireless stat or run a 3 core twin and earth.

Don't know if this is what you are looking for but a room stat will have a live feed,a switch wire,a neutral and an earth.If you don't have a neutral the stat will still work,but not so accurately as most stats have heat anticipators in them.
