About rugby?

Question

I'm 27yrs old and I am starting in a rugby league for the first time, never played before. I have played soccer and baseball and my life. I was just wondering what I should expect

Rugby is like football but without the pads and the boringness. You can expect 80 minutes of game time if you're a good player, not like in football where if you play half the game you should be stoked.

Its not as specialised as football, so you'll have to tackle, run, kick and pass, as opposed to just doing one of them for 8 seconds at a time then sitting down.

You'll hurt. Sundays suck when you're playing rugby. You'll have more cold baths and ice packs than you've ever had before.

You'll be able to have a beer with your opposition. My experience playing rugby in the US and Canada after leaving New Zealand is that football players have to hate their opposition to play against them, i think thats the worst kind of sportsmanship ever. I played a game a few weeks ago, got in a huge fight with one guy, knocked out a couple of his teeth and after the game he brought me a beer, shook my hand and told me he'd never been punched like that before. Its a really cool social atmosphere around rugby.

You can expect alot more knocks than when you were playing Soccer or BBall.You should really watch a few games before you commit your self i love both League and Union but no way i would ever play even if i was a bloke.But good Luck any way.

you are going to touch the ball more often, tackle more, you don't have to think a lot, pretty simple game, but too simple for a rugga head...

Your question is a little confusing.

Rugby league and rugby union are actually two different animals.

Are you starting in a rugby league league or a rugby union league ?

If rugby union - Watch the rugby world cup starting in France next month.

New Zealand All Blacks vs Italy on  Saturday Sept 8th - Is  the opening game I think - Check that match out - you won't see any street bums but - Just big quick wookies with mad skill sets.
