About scoliosis and laminectomy?

I cant defferentiate between scoliosis and laminectomy from an X-ray film. Any help? also, do they occur at the same time?

  1. Scoliosis is a disorder that causes a lateral curve of the spine.  It often looks like an S on x-ray.

    A laminectomy is a surgical procedure in which the posterior arch of a vertebra is removed to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots that emerge from the spinal canal. It is done to treat herniated disks or spinal stenosis.
