i have a questions about citizenship. i am 17 years old when i got here in USA. now i am 20 years old. one of my friend told me how come i dont file a citizenship when i was still 17 years old.

so my questions can i still filled a citizenship eventhough i am 20 yrs old now....i think they have a record that am 17 years old when i got here...i hope you guys can help me...

  1. I&#039;m not sure if it&#039;s the same for minors, but I believe you have to be here for 5 years as a resident before you can file for citizenship.


  2. i am having the same problem but i am 17 Right now the people tell me that if i don&#039;t file the citizenship now that i am 17 i ll have to wait until i get at least 5 years here so that&#039;s going to be when you get 22 you can do it.

  3. According to http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m... you have to be 18 years old to apply for citizenship and you have to have been a permanent resident for 5 years.

    If one of your parents was a US citizen when you were born, you may already be a US citizen yourself, you would just have to ask.
