  1. For one thing.. not all veterinarians are skilled in treating birds. I found this out with my Quaker Parrot. Hardly any of the vets in my hometown had the expertise. I ended up having to go to New Orleans to a bird specialist. The best thing to do is to put the bird in a small carrying cage and cover it as you don't want the bird stressed. My Quaker was quite happy to ride on my shoulder in the car as I raised her to ride. The cost of treating my bird was quite expensive $500. But that will depend on why you are taking the bird. Another thing I did was to play the radio in the car to help drown out the noises of other vehicles.

  2. As said already, not all vets are skilled in treating birds.  You need to find an aivan vet in your area and call and set up an appointmet.  A first appointment will probably cost you around 200-300 dollars or more possibly. You will need to call and schedule an appointment, and buy a small travel cage to use while in the car.  The hardest part is FINDING an avian vet.  Go to google or post in parrot forums to find where other parrot owners go.  Be prepared tof ill out information about your bird, and you may want to come prepared with a list of questions so you aren't as anxious or chaotic.  Write down thigns you want to know, or may need and ask before you leave.  If ti's writen down you won't forget, but it also will shorten the tiem you're there which will make it easier on your parrot.
