  1. The Type S is a mid-model refresh/update to provide a more performance oreinted offering since various TL competitors have upped their specifications...mostly in the horsepower department.

The Type S is actually the very same car as the base (3.2L model) with the following enhancements:

    - equipped with the RL's power train...3.5L motor & the RL's beefier transmission (power is upped from 258 to 286 hp, SAE; fuel economy remains the same); the RL's tranny is actually slightly lighter than that of the base model, but the 3.5L motor weighs a little more.  Acura dropped hollow camshafts in to keep the weight down as much as possible.

    - added shock absorber engine mount.

    - the AT transmission has some enhancements such as 'rev matching'

    - cosmetic change to the exhaust pipe tips

    - equipped with the 'A Spec', factory performance package (fairings, Brembo brakes, upgraded steering wheel, sportier wheels, performance struts (w. quicker rebound rates) thicker rear sway bar, upgraded tires...all for a tauter ride.

    - sport focused cabin enhancements like red LED's in lieu of the base model's blue, perforated metal pedals, racier leather trim, etc.

    - backup camera

    - NAV standard with the Type S

    - offered in both 5 spd AT & 6 spd MT versions, whereas the '08 TL base 3.2L model is available with an automatic transmission only

For most driving styles, the power difference between the two AT equipped models will seem negligble.  This is because either engine doesn't 'come alive' until near redline (6,500 rpm).  The torque differences aren't that great between these two cars.  However, Acura detuned the '08-'09 base model's chassis a bit to drive with a more sedate feel (more dampening/softer ride).  So if all-around performance is your desire, the Type S would be the ticket, unless your a 'tuner' who doesn't mind installing aftermarket performance parts to the base model.

  2. type s is a sporty car. has a sport suspencion, and 18 inch wheels.

smooth but the performance tires, and suspencion give it a harder ride.

    It also has more power.

the tl is still very nice, you can get it with leather and navigation screen, and has a softer feel bacause of the smaller wheels and soft suspencion.

  3. the type s is a little bit faster

  4. more fun to drive in :] for the type S
