40 miles w/out using any gas. Fine. My question is this...when you take it home or wherever and you plug it in over night (goes into regular 110), does anyone have an estimate as to the cost to charge this guy up? Is it more than using an electric heater in the home?? Thanks.

  4. Should be much more than only 40 miles on a charge...GM was beyond that with the Saturn EV-1...110 to 160 miles per charge in later models.

  5. The Volt will take approximately 15 minutes to charge and can go up to 40 miles on a single charge. The total amount of power to charge up twice per day for an entire month would equal about $8 per month, depending on what your electric company charges for a kilowatt hour.

  6. >>  does anyone have an estimate as to the cost to charge this guy up?

that depends on your local cost of electricity. Around here (NYC) the cost of electricity vary from 8 cents per kilowatt to 25 cents per kilowatt (depending on the time of the year).

The hope is that in the future the cost of electricity will go down with better alternative source (like solar power, wind power, etc.).

But given today's technology (and cost of electricity) I have a sneaking feeling it will actually not save you any money (when you factor in the extra cost of initial purchase).

    Good luck....

  7. it also uses a gas engine to power the electric motor

so if electricity is to much then you can just use gas

it gets about 150 miles to the gallon

    its crazy
