About the Olympic medals?

just curious as to how much does a gold medalist get than silver anthan the bronze. just was wondering surfing threw the internet catching talks of phelps everywhere winning 8 medals (gold). just how much money does a dude got per month for each gold medal his won.

although you don't get money from the Olympic committee for winning medals, countries pay athletes who bring home a gold for their people. I know some countries pay up to like 20/25K for a gold. I know the U.S. does as well, but I don't know the amount.

There is no prize money in the Olympics but winning a medal,especially gold would be worth a fortune in endorsements.

You don't get ANY money for winning medals at the Olympics. It is not a paid thing at all. It is all about prestige and honor, pretty much. That said, the winners put themselves in the position of being able to get sponsorships, commercials, payment to speak at events, coaching jobs, and sometimes professional contracts. So you can make a bundle out of winning, but only if you market yourself and live in a rich country like the U.S. How much you get depends on your marketability and business savvy.
