About the Olympics and global warming. Since China plans to make sure their weather is good for the Olympics,

will their seeding of clouds cause more global warming. I think this is weird because China has areas of their country that needs water, but they plan to seed the clouds to not just bring water to places but to prevent it as well. What are your thoughts as this relates to global warming atmosphere changes. I'm also wondering if this is also a moral or religious issue.

I don't trust the Chinese at this stage of their country's development - nor would I have trusted many other developing nations in the historical past, including Britain.

China's attempt to influence the "Olympic weather" are understandable and very unlikely to have any serious impact on the already disastrous global situation.. So, they might as well have a try as have many other nations/countries have had in the past.

Perhaps I'm becoming cynical??/

China never invented much, they just copy..     and never got it right....Take care the rest of the world ..lol.

Global warming at this years Olympics is not the problem.  The problem is the air pollution in Beijing is so bad that it can cause lung and sinus damage to athletes who train and compete in it.

I lived in a major urban center in northeast Asia for five years during the 1970s and still have major respiratory problems.  

The only good thing is that Olympics are being held in the summer so they will have some time to clear the air of pollution from their heating fuels (soft coal and charcoal).  They are also shutting down a good bit of their industrial capacity.  As soon as the games are over the pollution will start back up and will probably increase by 25% to make up for the loss during the six month run up to the games.

I would love to see monitoring results posted on the net.

While seeding the clouds will have some effect on the weather it is extremely localized.China has no more control over its weather then does anyone else and they will be at mother natures mercy.
