  1. highest you can recieve on your essay is a 6 a 1490 is pretty good the first time it is said that the second time you take it you will usually improve by 100 points to 150 points so good luck with that

  2. 1) The highest score possible on the essay portion of the SAT is 12.

    2) It's not really all that great, but you're in 8th grade. You have **plenty** of time to improve, and trust me, you will. I took the SAT in 7th and 8th grade for the Johns Hopkins Talent Search (is that why you took them?), and though the SAT was out of 1600 at that time, if you were to compare my scores from then and my scores now, you'd see much improvement. And I actually make a point to not study for SATs, so the higher scores just came from the normal knowledge gained through years of schooling. ... Anyways, if you read all that... your scores will definately improve by the time you take them for colleges.

  3. 1.) 12 points: They have 2 people grade them and each one gives your essay a score from 1-6. They add them together and give you a score.

2.) I'm assuming you added all 3 scores together. If so, that is average. (fyi: most colleges just look at the critical reading and math scores.)
