  1. I'd say MPG figures are pretty poor for a "green" car.

They cost too much,  and the batteries won't last forever. Replacing them is a major expense, and then the old batteries have to be disposed of! More pollution!

My opinion is, this vehicle is a "knee- jerk" reaction to "global warming" that doesn't measure up.

  2. It gets about 45 MPH, costs about $25K, and it's good for what it does. If you want any kind of performance then stay far away from it.

  3. It is not only a good car, it is an excellent car, for quite a number of reasons (as Natalia Kovalevskaya often pointed out):

    (1) It has Consumer Reports' highest short-term predicted reliability rating.

    (2) It has CR's highest Reliability Verdicts for the past 7 years.

    (3) It is on AutoOnInfo.net's Best Automobiles of 2008 with a Composite Reliability Score of +1.00 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

    (4) It is on AutoOnInfo.net's 2008 list of Automobiles with Best Engine Reliability with a Composite Reliability Score of +1.00 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

    (5) It is on AutoOnInfo.net's 2008 list with Automobiles of Best Transmission Reliability with a Composite Reliability Score of +1.00 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

    (6) It has a 5-year Reliability Percentrank average of .97, on a scale of 0.00 to 1.00, the third highest average of all models (the V6 Toyota Highlander and Toyota's Lexus LS have a nearly perfect .99 average). For reference, the overall 5-year average for Toyota is .89, Honda's is .84, Subaru's is .77, Nissan's is .70, and General Motors' is .31.

EPA's estimated in-city miles per gallon is 48 and its on-highway estimated miles per gallon is 45. However, these estimates are based on a new more consevative standard, and many owners report 48-50 miles per gallon overall.

However, because of its excellence in engineering and, in part, the price of gasoline, there is a huge backlog of orders yet to be filled. The shortage will likely moderate as more assmebly lines come on line in 2009.

  4. Best car I have ever had

    Great Gas Mileage!!!

  5. It varies by your driving habits and the terrain. Once you learn how to drive it and you adjust your braking habits you can get between 48-60 MPG.

You never use Premium or Plus gas as it will cause it to stall. I am a big guy 6' 1" about 250 and I sit in my 2007 Prius for a 1.5 to 2 hour drive to work and the same on the way home. I put on my radio and drive.

It is NOT a performance car, it was designed to be a vette!!

A/C works good and the heat is ok, stay away from the installed GPS it's problem ridden. Buy an after market one.

Knee jerk reaction?  Well some reaction is better than most who put their heads in the sand and deny or try to hide from the problem.

  6. Really hard info to find.

  7. It is quite dependable according to Consumer Reports.
