About the audio recorders the police officers wear. In So. Cal. Are they on all the time?

Or do the officers turn them on and if so when? Are there any written rules as to when the recorder needs to be on? Thank you

The accepted record time is when the officer leaves the vehicle for a traffic stop or when the officer has detained someone for transport. it's record time is 24 days for 24 hrs a day. the recordings are downloaded when the vehicle gets near the pd station that it works out of.
