About the cyclone in Myanmar-this is somewhat morbid, but where are all the bodies?

My son asked me this question. At this point they are predicting 22,000 dead-mostly due to storm surge. Obviously, bodies are swept out to sea, but at those numbers-would it not be visible? What happens?

  1. the ocean has its ways, millions of fish will be having a buffet for dinner tonight...

  2. dead bodies bodies sink in water - they float after being in water a few days.

  3. Smashed under rocks under buildings and some body's are so messed up that you can't see who they are. there are infinite possibilities.

  4. in a soup for the cannibals

  5. it's the same with other disasters, unfortunately bodies are kind of around. some were swept to sea but some are in the wreckage. it's quite a task but volunteers go through and search for remains.

  6. I belive that the bodies could have been thrown around

  7. I have a great deal of sympathy for the people of Myanmar, and have already mailed a check to the Red Cross, but has it occurred to anyone that the government of Myanmar, which is a military junta, may just be inflating the figures in order to get more world aid?  They control everything, so they'll control any aid coming their way, too.  The worse they make it sound, they more they'll get.  First reports were 350 dead, then 4000, then 10,000, now 22,000...I feel terrible sadness for those affected, but I feel suspicious about their government at the same time.

22,000 bodies would be hard for the sea to swallow if many of  those were inland.
