  1. Potential increase in global average surface temperatures resulting from enhancement of the greenhouse effect by air pollution.

In 2001 the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimated that by 2100 global average surface temperatures would increase by 2.5 to 10.4 °F (1.4 to 5.8 °C), depending on a range of scenarios for greenhouse gas emissions. Many scientists predict that such an increase would cause polar ice caps and mountain glaciers to melt rapidly, significantly raising the levels of coastal waters, and would produce new patterns and extremes of drought and rainfall, seriously disrupting food production in certain regions. Other scientists maintain that such predictions are overstated. The 1992 Earth Summit and the 1997 conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change attempted to address the issue of global warming, but in both cases the cause was hindered by conflicting national economic agendas and disputes between rich and poor nations over the cost and consequences of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

Global warming is caused by the excessive carbon dioxide so only way to prevent it is to avoid carbon dioxide . what can we do for that ???????

    Think

1.plant trees. it will take carbon dioxide and release oxygen. That will be very useful for future also

2.make a strict law in cutting trees

    3. avoid vehicles which produce smokes. Ask the scientist to make a new invention in which no smoke is produced. I think why can’t we make a new vehicle which will run by electricity thus we can gain many things but lose one thing water

Gains are we can save petroleum it is very poor in earth.yes we can save earth from global warming.

Earth is now a ball in an utensil a silly ice ball. Its heating Ice ball will melt soon.so we can combine together. Come on all guys come on. And we can make the ice ball a diamond which cannot melt

  2. try wikipedia =) or u could use these sites as well

  3. Ha ha ha, your question is very amusing.   I will try to answer in the best way I can.  Your first question is, "How are we killing the earth?"

    1.  Technically, we cannot kill the earth.  It was around before us, and it will bea round after us.

    2.  From a more meaningful (to you) and ecological standpoint, the world will be killed, from our human perspective, when we can no longer survive in it.  This is when we reach our "survival ceiling".  This happens when we grow to the point where we can no longer sustain ourselves with the resources supplied by our environment.  Some people say this will be far in the future, som people say it will happen in a few years, and some people say we have passed it and are due for a population crash.  Ways in which we are said to be causing this "killing" are:

-Over-harvesting food supplies: We over-fish/over-hunt etc.  and cause our food species to die out.  This may also cause other food species dependent on those species to die.  This is a domino effect.

Polluting: We add chemicals to the environment that kill animals and plants, and/or destroy our own habitations.

Overpopulating: We grow to the point where we over use the planet and we, and all other life die.

    2. "What is Global Warming?"

Global warming is an unsubstantiated claim saying that we are causing an unatural climate shift through green house gas emission.  This is a farce, because geological records show that global temperature averages have been much higher than now SEVERAL times in recent AND prehistoric times.  BUT to prove YOUR points, we pump out carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, and other "greenhouse" gasses that trap infrared light in the atmosphere and raise global temperatures.  It is true that these gasses do this, but the levels of these effectsa re often exagerated, look to Al Gore's movie to see examples of this.

It has been said that we have raised CO2 levels higher than ever before, but it has actually been hundreds of times higher than it is now.  This did result in higher temperatures, but not nearly to the levels that people predict we should be experiencing soon.  (Another big thing to realize is that most global CO2 emissions come from volcanic eruptions.)

    3. "How do I stop global warming?"

Stop producing Greenhouse gasses.  Stop breathing, stop flatulating, stop global volcanic eruptions.

-People say that cows producing methane are causing massive rises in global temperature. n This is a farce, and frankly, I love beef.  Archeological evidence says that our atmosphere, at one point was MAINLY COMPOSED OF METHANE.  This was caused, not by cows, but by archaea bacteria.  Presently, our atmosphere is mainly oxygen due to the gas emission of microscopic marine protists.

-It is a good idea to reduce automobile emissions, not just for global warming, but also because automobile emissions reduce the ability for hemoglobin to transport oxygen, they cause other respiratory issues, they react chemically to produce other, more harmful gasses, and they also react to form acid rain.

    -We cannot stop volcanic eruption.

-You could try to establish emission standards in developing countries that do not have much education / enforcement of the harmful effects of pollution and toxic gas emission.

-About the melting Ice caps... It has been said that these are melting faster than usual, but I have lived in a place where sea level rises have been recorded for the past 2.5 hundred years.  And, again, geological reports show that these rises have been happening consistently since the end of the last ice age.  So make of that what you will.

    TO CONCLUDE.

Global warming may or may not be an issue, but it is highly marketable, and it WILL get you grant money for research.
