  1. You should sponge bath the baby until the umbilical cord falls off. They make great little bath seats that work great so that they aren't totally submerged. You can give him a bath whenever you think he needs one.

  2. um not until his umbilical cord has fallen of and is completely healed can he take a bath. you can use a damp rag and wipe him down, but it isn't needed everyday, try every other day or every 3 days at first

  3. They say for newborns, 2-3 times a week. They aren't getting dirty, and you'll dry out their skin even more if you bathe them every day. My son is 3 weeks old, and i gave him his first sponge bath at 2 weeks. Also, you can't submerge them in water till after their belly button falls off, and heals.

  4. I would give him one today.  He only needs a bath at the most every other day, so the oil in his skin doesnt dry out.  Also, his hair doesnt need to be washed daily either. Just wipe him off (diaper area, face, neck), then bath 2 or 3 times a week.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck and congrats :)

  5. prior posting..yes they can be bathed every day, or as little as once a week at this age, you don't want to dry out his skin! And yes I would recommend a sponge bath until his belly button and p***s heal!

    Congrats!!!!!!

  6. Whenever you want to. Babies can be bathed every day if they don't mind them. My daughter loves the water and has a bath right before bed. It calms her down. You can judge when you bathe him. Congratulations on your little one.

  7. Young newborn skin is delicate.  Pediatricians state you can bathe them 2-3 times per week. That's it.  You will be so busy with everything else, don't burden yourself with trying to figure out when to bathe him.

As the child gets older, towards age 1, you can bathe them more frequently.
