  1. I'm not sure what you mean by 'change it location position'.

The moon revolves around the Earth.  It's position is constantly changing....

  2. dude...think twice when asking a question.

  3. You will also note that with the change of position, the "shape" will change as well. These are your phases.

Go out one night that the Moon is up at a particular time and look due south. Stand in the same place, and mark your place. Make a fist and count how many fists fit between the moon and the ground. Then hold your fist out pointing to the south, and count how many fists fit between the Moon and your imaginary point.

Go out the next night and do the same. You will find that the moon is moving toward the east. That is the direction it is orbiting the Earth.

Also note what phase it is in. If you do this for a week you will see it change also. This is due to its relation to the Sun as it moves through its orbit.

If you do this you will not only learn about how the Moon is moving, but you will have a greater understanding of how things work in our solar system. Read a bit about it and soon you will be hooked on astronomy like most of us are :))

  4. Yes, the Moon changes position pretty fast. It moves about 12 degrees a day, which is quite obvious if you watch it two days in a row. But most people don't pay attention. It will move completely around the sky and come back to the same place in a month. That is what the word month means. It is a MoonTH. When the Indians say many Moons they mean many months, because they watched the sky and were well aware of the movement. You will also notice the phases follow a pattern as it moves. Watch for the Moon every clear night (and day time too) and you will see.

  5. Oh my god! This means the apocalypse is coming! Are you stupid? The moon orbits around the Earth...

  6. You need to go back to school.

  7. Not sure what "change it location position" actually means.

The moon orbits the Earth once a month, so each day the moon rises about 50 minutes later than the night before.

So the night of the full moon it rises at sunset, the next night its almost an hour after sunset, the next night almost an hour after that.

So of course the moon will change position in the sky night after night.

Are you referring to something else besides this regular monthly pattern?

  8. Because of its orbit around the Earth, the Moon is in a different position in the sky every night (or day). Its phase changes from night to night. The angle its phase makes with the horizon changes every night because of the changing position in its orbit. All these changes are 100% predictable and repeatable, and are shown in programs like Starry Night.

  9. the ancient greeks knew how the moon moved across the sky, even if their theories on how it happened were all wrong. does nobody ever actually *look* at the sky anymore?

  10. What else is new?

  11. it is funny to read people saying " the moon goes around the earth you dope" lol --- when  i think that for the most of human history saying that could have got you burned alive like bruno..;...tee heee --- yeah aristarchus was one big dummy, eh? rflmao

  12. The moon changes position all the time, continuously and it means nothing.

  13. maybe that the moon doesnt follow a perfectly straight alignment with the rotational axis of the Earth?...along with the fact that the moon rises 50 minutes later each night.

It's all about the angles....think geometry.

  14. I think you mean the angle of the path the moon takes through the sky changes. It actually varies its path all year long similarly to the sun's path. This is due to the Earth's elliptical orbit and because its spin slightly 'shakes' rather than stays smooth.
