there's only one kawasaki dealership in my area and they have no new or used ninja 250's (which i wanted to get as my first bike). i wanted to get a 250 used but a new one wouldn't cost as much compared to the 650r. the guy that owns the place said the people have been flocking towards the new 250r (wait list of 10 and only 1 is guaranteed one) and the 650r's hasnt been selling. the only used 650r's they have are 2007. The 07' and 08' models are the same price. If i remember correctly he said it was around 6,200

anybody own this as their beginner bike?

what were your first experience with it?

Is the reliability good?

  1. didn't own it...test rode my friends it's a great beginner bike!

  2. The reliability is pretty much average for a japanese bike which frankly, is EXCELLENT.

The only problem is it is much more powerful (read: dangerous) than the ninja 250.  So if you buy and get splattered all over the roadway do not expect sympathy.

You remind me of a friend of mine that wanted a tire reccomendation.  The ones he got were made by a different company, and a different model, different size, had less traction than he wanted, less treadware, than the ones I had suggested. And then he came back and complained about the reccomendation, which he had not followed! The only thing he got from my reccomendation is that the tires were both round and black.
