I am about to get my lip pierced. I am wondering, can i kiss my bf? it will be hurting a bit, i know, but will I be in so much pain that i can't/shouldn't kiss him? Also, is a lip piercing less-likely to get infected or cause swelling, as apposed to a nose ring? Which one is most painful? Experience with piercings, anyone?

  1. Ive had my lip and my nose done and I have to say that the nose was more painful and took longer to heal, although the lip stung more at the time, it stopped hurting pretty quickly after and I had no probs with infection. Kissing will be difficult for about 1-2 weeks, as will eating and talking. If you get a stud put in, chances are you will catch the flat backing on your teeth and it will hurt then. Avoid using shower puffs made from netting when washing your face as they are likely to snag on your piercing and that REALLY hurts. Good luck!

  2. I got my lip pierced, and went to my boyfriends right after. haha My lip didnt swell or hurt. We kissed, but not like majorly, that would probably hurt. I have my nose pierced also, I had it done like 7 months before my lip, and honestly that hurt more than the lip. I barely felt my lip when it got pierced. And nose piercings are pretty much a pain in the *** healing, and changing, while lip piercings are really simple, and they never really hurt. :]

  3. You will have to refrain from kissing for at least 6 weeks. You don't want to get other peoples fluids on an open wound.

Lips tend to swell a lot or not at all. You don't really know which until you have it done. Mine hasn't swelled through three piercings, but some swell up quite a bit for a few days to a week. You will be fitted with larger jewelry to accommodate it.

Pain is relative to each person, different every day. The pain is not unbearable, but you will feel it.
