i know tiger barbs are a tiny bit aggressive.. i wanna know if i got 3 small like..tiny.. tiger barbs, if they wouldnt be as aggressive if i put some platys and other tropical fish in with them. i got a 10 gallon tank and everything to put in it but i just need to know if you think that'd be good enough or if it's best not to put tiger barbs with other fish. if you dont know that, could you give me a heads up which small tropical fish to not mix?

  1. if you have tiger barbs they are easily intimidated, as long as u have more of any other type of fish they will remain sober.the only other fish they atacked in my tank was my favorite little silver dollar fishy, they are not known to attack tropical fish for they do not see them in theyre environment so usually mine dont atack the others, if u wanted to know i have a 10gal with 4lily decorations(fake cuz real lillies r too expensive) 12tigers 7neons 4 fancy guppies and 2 plecodomisus

  2. Platies are a huge bio load (really 3 inches of fish each) so watch out you don't over crowd.

Actually 10-15 tiger barbs are far more peaceful than just 3. It works backwards as they tend to nitpick with each other and ignore everyone else.

3 tiger barbs will reak havoc, cause fish to stress and viola!!!

    ick breakouts all the time.

Tiger barbs work great with other types tiger barbs and other aggressive fish that don't take c**p from anyone.

Try a male/female pair of threadfin rainbows or more livebeaers like 3-5 endler livebearers (all male of course)

    good luck!!!!

  3. my tiger barb, killed his pair, and also attacked the golden mollies, the Coi Carps, the sword tails, the guppies, the angel fish, the gouramis and all other tropical fishes. It's always best to keep them isolated.

  4. Everyone has answered your question beautifully

Your question makes me remember when I used to have fish tanks and those dang little tiger barbs...they think they are Great Whites!!

  5. Those tiger barbs may be tiny to start, but they're going to grow and their natural aggressiveness will show. I would decide which type of fish you want more, the barbs or the platys. If you want the tiger barbs, they can go with other barbs or gouramis, which are more aggressive. If you want the platys, there are many variations of platy as well other smaller, non-aggressive fish, like tetras or guppies.

  6. 1 tiger barb will be ok with guppies, mollies, kissing gourmi`s,loachesfrog,catfish,plecs,coryd... this is what i have had for over 2 years now and not had 1 dead fish at all good luck
