Question:

About to buy an Xbox 360?

I'm about to get an xbox 360 and I have a few questions:

Whats the average life span of a 360?

How long should I play before powering it off?

Can I still get microsoft to fix my RRoD without buying the warranty?

Does microsoft replace the 360 or just fix it?

Does microsoft fix it completly or does the RRoD come back after like a week or so?

I'll give best answer to person who give extra info and gives a link to a video to prevent the RRoD or page on how to prevent RRoD.

  1. d**n i was just on that webpage cuz my friends selling me a 360 with the RRoD for 20$... go to microsoft support page. if you do get the RRoD you could try the towel tecnuiqe wrap a towel around the 360 until it overheats and the RRoD SHOULD be gone.... when you send it to microsoft they will most likely send you a knew Xbox.. that happened to my cousing and they sent him a knew one. if i were you i would buy the warranty just in case. check some webpages about the RRoD out to see how to prevent them and fix them because there IS ways you can fix it yourself!

  2. I suggest u dunt buy a 360 rite now becuz, its been almost 3 years since it release and u wait another 2 years u can buy xbox 720 or w/e becuz new console's arrive every 5 years or so...

  3. -Life span depends on how you take care of it. I had mine about more than 1 year still works

-You should power off atleast 4-5 of playing. I play all day but ill take it off to cool off

-Microsoft know they made a mistake with the xbox360 n thr rrod, so they fix it for free lifetime

    - Fix it, they add new stuff to prevent it, but as i said u have to take care of it

    - ^^^^

Prevent it is all not using it non stop. when not using it turn it off

  4. mine lasted about 1 year and 9 months. but that was the last model. they changed the way they make them. the console looks and feels different. the power button changed how you push it and it's a little more hard to get a controller plugged in. #2 you can play as long as you want. just don't let it over heat. keep it in a open space perhaps put a small fan next to it to help it. if you get the "Red Ring Of Death" without a warranty no they won't fix it. but you can buy a xbox with a 2 year warranty on it. they either fix it or replace it due to whats wrong with it. they replaced mine because it wouldn't read discs anymore. if you get the "Red Ring Of Death" they will have to replace it because it's caused by the processor overheating and burning up. the "Red Ring Of Death" is only because they over heat. that's why i say keep a small fan on it.

  5. listen baby ,I bought one to my ex bf and in two month was broken ,he sent it to microsoft and it took 2 weeks to send another later it happened again over heat the three rings of death lol he sent it back because microsoft give three month warranty every time they send you one ,went they send it back "two weeks"again with out play lol he end it up selling the xbox 360 in craigslist and he bought a ps 3 with this one he doesn't have to pay the conection  for the internet ,microsoft does ,the only problem that he likes to play halo so I bought it a reagular xbox and he plays halo 2 so is not too much different and a lot of  people still go online too

  6. Microsoft say at least 7 year

Microsoft will replace your 360 if it is a software problem

they will fix it if it is a hardware problem

  7. 1. There isn't one

    2. Doesn't matter

    3. Of course you can, there is a three year warranty for that

    4. There are such things as stupid questions and that is a perfect example of one

You cannot prevent the ring of death. It is up to chance. Pray to whatever god/s you believe in.

  8. I don't want to be rude, but you're worrying way too much..

Just go buy one. But sort of late, aren't we?

  9. ive had my xbox 360 for almost 3 years now and its working rlly good

you could play all day but like every hour check the back of the xbox if its rlly hot than give it a little break

RRod is very rare too get almost no buddie gets it and if they do they ethier have an old xbox or dont take care of it so dont rlly worrie about that

microsoft does both depending on how bad the damage

  10. The life-span of the older consoles was about a year, but it's not really a problem anymore cos they changed the chips inside and stuff. Just make sure you get a new one (like an elite).

I played for around 10 hours in one go (GTA4) (when I was ill and couldn't get to sleep), and it was fine afterwards, and fine now.

If it's within a year then they fix any problem normally covered in the warranty. After that, it's covered for three years for the three red lights (as this is due to a design fault on their part).

I've heard of people getting refurbished consoles in some cases, getting a repaired console, or even getting a new one. Depends on what's wrong I suppose.

Mine took about a week and a half to come back.

Keeping the console in a cool place helps, as the cause of the problem rings is due to over heating. I've also heard that the main problem in most cases is the power block, and that keeping it off the ground helps, though this doesn't sound right to me.

I've had one red light on me, but it was an older version, and my elite hasn't done it yet.

  11. buy the 60gb model as compley new chips falcon and jasper

the elits have falcon chip only and u see how good they run

dont list to first person we wont be seing no new sytem untill 2012 we wont even hear news untill then because all 3 companys comited to a 7-10 years on there system

  12. 1. The average life span is about 5month to a year.

    2. I dont think this really matters

    3. You could but you might have to pay for it like 100 bucks

    4. it depends on how bad your system is damaged if it really bad they might just get a new 1 or fix the problem.

    5. it takes about a couple months

    6. you could buy a cooling fan

  13. 1. 1 hour - unknown years; you might get a dud. Mine lasted about a week before I got the red ring of death. I had to send it in to MS for warrenty repair and wound up getting a refurbished one back - so I essentially paid $350 for a used xbox.

    2. Play it until you're done playing.

    3. it's a manufacturers warranty

    4. they replace it with a used one

    5. i havent seen a rrod since i got the replacement

  14. Go to google.Hope this helps!! =)

  15. Well, the average life span if you take good care of it is 5-10 years *studio estimate*, you should never actually leave it on it will burn itself out,Microsoft will NOT replace it but they will fix it up nicely, complete fix!

  16. RRoD was caused by Microsoft trying to produce cheap Xboxes to beat the growing PS3 sales.  Unfortunately, their bad productions caused many to send back their Xbox's.  Microsoft also extended the warranty because of that.

Anyways, to answer your question, look up the RRoD error online, and if nothing, send it to Microsoft.  There's nothing you can do about it.  In terms of how long you can keep it on, assume that it'll work for as long as your eyes can withstand the TV, but I wouldn't leave it on for more than a day.
