  1. I had hamsters and gerbils as pets and I got to say the gerbils made way better pets.  They were more active and more interesting to watch.  The only thing is if you get pairs get 2 girls or 2 boys because they like to multiply often.  I love how they loved each other. Gerbils are just as cheap and they actually lived longer then my hamsters.

  2. Any of the dwarfs can be kept together (although they do sometimes fight, so it's still a risk there!) but the ones that I've seen get along best are Chinese hamsters.

They only hibernate when the temperature is very low, which it should not be because they'll be in the house. Hibernating is not something you want your hamster to do, so make sure the temperature is reasonable.

  3. all dwarf breeds can live together, but make sure they are female. even male dwarf hamsters will fight. hamsters will not hibernate unless they are living outside

  4. Russian Dwarfs, Winter White Dwarfs and sometimes Chinese Hamsters. (Robo hamsters too) They can all live together if raised at a young age and you should get same s*x pairs. It will hibernate if you put it in a temperature below room temp so make sure your room is near room temperature and keep it away from drafts and direct sunlight.

Russian Dwarfs tend to bite more if not tamed.

Winter Whites are somewhat better than Russian Dwarfs

Chinese Rarely bite and have a great personality

Robos Are super super cute and Rarely bite but can be hard to catch and aren't for beginners or people that want to hold their hamster.

I would consider getting Chinese Hamsters if they have any or Winter Whites but sometimes they can confuse Winter whites with russian dwarfs at pet shops so be careful about that. Good luck with your new hamster ^^

Some reccomendations of pets are rats and mice because rats rarely bite and very intelligent and same go with mice as what I have heard but I hope you choose well and good luck again for your new pet!

Some cages you might want to use are Bin cages or wired cages with the wires close together so hamsters couldnt escape or bite it. If you want cages like crittertrail or habitrail, try getting Crittertrail 2,3 or X because 2 and 3 give a lot of running space and X is a lot of fun for your hamster and attracts peoples attention.

Some of the wheels can be very noisy so you can try using olive or vegetable oil to make it less squeaky or get the silent spinner. Also, some water bottles might leak so you can try other water bottles.

Also if you choose to get a rat, you might want to use a big cage and get 2 rats because rats can die from depression of no friends.

You might want to get 2 females for the hamsters or mice and rats because males tend to be more smelly and spray urine to mark their territory unless if neutered but males are more layed back and females are more energetic and don't spray urine to mark their territory as much as males but if you want a layed back one that likes to be held, get a male and if you want an energetic one that you like to watch and sometimes hold, get a female.

  5. cambell winter white russian and chinease can leive iin pairs they dont hibernate unless it gets to cold for them but other then that then they shouldnt

  6. all types of dwarf hamsters can live in pairs, however, if they don't have enough space, fighting could definitely break out. i wouldn't get robos if i were you. do you want to hold it? if so, you really can't hold robos, they won't let you, they are too fast and hard to catch. consider, winter whites, or rusian dwarfs.

    good luck!

  7. It exists some sorts of hamsters that can survive in couples: the hamster Chinese and the hamster Roboroviski. Of these hamsters no one hibernates.
