  1. Hi, you can't really prepare for it, although physical fitness helps a lot. Be mentally tough and participate well in team spirit

  2. push ups, pull ups, latter rack, sit ups, hang a piece of raw meat around your neck and let all you neighbors dogs out. squats, run some more, weight training, run, push ups pull ups, sit ups, run and when you're done with breakfast, start again.

  3. 50 push ups, 100 sit ups, do a 8 minute mile, and keep quiet and observe and learn.

  4. yea my husband is infantry and he hated the sand box so try doing your excersises at the beach and be prepared to deck scrub on your hands and feet!! good luck and god bless

  5. Ryan, thank-you for volunteering to serve our country.  My husband is a retired infantry NCO and still loves his old job.

It's great that you are already running, but don't forget to do lots of push-ups and sit-ups.  They not only help you on your Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) that you will take before you graduate bootcamp, but will also strengthen you as an infantrymen loaded down in full combat gear.

The body armor infantrymen in Iraq wear can easily excede 80 pounds, so imagine how much harder your body will have to push itself with that added weight.  But you will have a few months to build up to that strength as your most important APFT will be the one you take when you finish your Advanced Individual Training (AIT).

Also keep a positive attitude in boot camp.  The drill sergeants are out there to stress you out, to test your will and to see how you handle the mind games.  Unstable trainees do get dropped from training.

If you smoke or have a drinking or candy addiction, also try to wean yourself off of that stuff as trainees are not allowed to smoke, drink or get caught eating cookies or candy.   Drill sergeants will do unannounced barrack inspections in the middle of the night and make you open all your lockers.  Woe to anyone caught with "contraband!"

    Good luck and be safe.
