About to move into a rental house and out of my apartment.?

Question

So I was wondering besides changing out all the light bulbs to compact flourescent and not running the AC all day long(Live in Houston Tx, so its hot here) Are they any other things I can do to save on electricity?

I live in FL and if you want to save on electricity use the energy saving bulbs it will save you about $13.00 a month. Whatever you do DO NOT turn your air up when you leave your house and back down when you get home. Think about it, every one says this helps but it really takes more energy to get the air back back down then it does to keep the air at the same temp. all day. Trust me. Good luck with you move

make sure everything is turnt off and the things that you can unplug when not in use will help more than you think.also wherever you hang out the most in your house will be the best place to keep the vents open and the places you are least in close off the vents.like for me.we rarely go in the basement.so i completely block off the vent and closed some others so the air cools down the bedrooms and living rooms only.
