I really need your help, myself and one more person or two more people are planning to go to Onatrio, Toronto, Canada in July for 14 or 15 days. Once I arrive in Toronto at Union Station, what is the nearest, cheapest and good conditioned hotels nearby that I can go to? Also, what means of transportation will be avaiable to us?

  1. There are a few reasonable hotels accessible by subway (Union Station is a subway stop) or a short taxi ride.  Bond Place Hotel on Gerrard Street, The Ramada Inn on Jarvis Street are not expensive.  Also try the Delta Cheslea Inn on Bay - most hotels have summer specials.  Any of these hotels are near the subway and in walking distance to most tourist destinations in Toronto.  Have fun!

  2. Hey. I'm just back from Toronto and the cheapest hotel around Union Station is called the Strathcona Hotel. It's literally around the corner from the station. It's roughly about $115cad for a double room per night. It's in the middle of everything and the staff are really helpful. (most of them). If you need anymore info on Toronto email me and I'll tell ya what you need to know

  3. once you get off at union station there will be one large crazy expensive hotel called the Royal York hotel.  Don't go there.  Union station is in the heart of the downtown so you'll only find other expensive hotels here.  However, i think for you you can try looking at sheridan hotels.  THere are a couple downtown that are reasonable.  Simply google 'Toronto Hotels' and click on the maps and you will see your options.  GOogle is great!

In toronto there is a good subway system.  Youc an access the subway directly from the train station.  follow the peopel and signs.  it is $2.75 a ticket, ask the teller for a TTC map.  another area you might want to look at is yonge and eglinton.  Stay near the subway lines if you're touring. it will make your life easier.

    or get a taxi.

    have fun!

  4. If your travelling with a number of people all those hotels are over $100 in the summer peak months, there is an Econo Lodge on the corner of Jarvis and gerrard, acrossed from Ryerson Unversity, I stay there when coming into see a specialist for a urilogical condition, I pay $80-99 a night ( a room with 2 double beds for 2 or 3 in July will cost $120-140 Can) depending on the time of year, summer is a peak period for hotel in the downtown area, I stayed at a Days Inn on Queen and Ronsenvelles in the west end, cheap ,but noisey, the streetcar barn is around the corner and they squeal all night plus the highway is only 1000 feet away and the traffic to the St Josephs M.C is on and off all night, but for 3 people and 2 double beds you could get the room for all 3 or 2 for under $100.

And the best mode of transport is the Public Transit, the TTC and they have a Day Pass for $9.50 that allow you to travel for 2 adults for the day on one pass all over the city and not pay extra, if you have a third peron then a packet of tickets or tocken may be a better idea, all surface and subways offer a transfer to allow you access to other vehicles, they now have 1 hour turn over to use so you can stop and shop or sightsee and get back on the bus or streetcar.
