  1. Well the cash fare is $2.75 per ride and they issue a transfer on all vehicles, but for a day of travel or touristy things, I alway when I am downtown get a "Day Pass" for $9.50, it allows you unlimited travel for 2 adult or a single, a family of 2 adults and 3 children under 16.

It is available at all TTC ticket booths in the subway, not on surface routes, the operators carry no change or issues tickets. But for more deals the link the first person prvided does get you to the offical TTC site, just a word of caution there is a chance on April 1st the system may grind to a halt with a general strike, and that is no April Fools joke, I had to endure 4 while I work there as a chef, the longest was in 1978, I had to walk to George Brown College in the Kensigton Market to do my school portion of the chefs apprenticeship, the Provincial Government usually legislates them back after 3-4 days, but it cripples the city in the meantime, just thought you should know if planning a trip at that time of the month, after that, then there is no problem.

  2. Here's a list of fares for buses, streetcars, and the subway: http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/fares.htm If you pay for one cash fare, and you have to transfer to another line or a surface route from underground or vice versa, you can get a transfer at the subway station or on the bus or streetcar where you paid your fare. It's only good for that one time and only immediately after the initial ride.

  3. Google the TTC, it's got a fare for adults, students, seniors and children.

  4. Taxis:  I think they start at $3?  $3.50?  and go up very quickly from there.  Not recommended.

The TTC is one price for a one way trip all across the whole system.  It is not based on zones like a lot of other transit systems.  Once you pay your fare, you can have a free transfer slip that will enable you to go to bus to subway to streetcar or whatever to get to your destination.
