About unlocking iphones?

I'm just wondering what exactly simlock, jailbreak and other terms that are being used in unlocking iphone topics mean? Because I get confused sometimes :)

Sim unlock : to hack the sim card to allow you to use the phone on other  networks

Software unlock : allows you to be unlocked without modifying the hardware (there is not yet one for the 3G iPhone)

Pwnage Tool: The tool that jailbreaks all iPhones and iPod Touches and unlocks the 1st gen iPhone (the windows versions are WinPwn or QuickPwn)

Cydia : the main Application used to install other Applications  on a jailbroken device.

jailbreak : to gain access to the file system
