Thug life was tupacs thing stating that thug life was a way of living, "thug life west side till i die motherfx" it also had something to do with his group of rappers they were all la gangbangers at some point, and yes thug life is west side, la crips and bloods are both from la gettos originally and are originally west side but now there is a lot of side groups based on these two rival gangs in a lot of different cities.

Well in the US there is east coast and west coast groups.  Subgroups of the crips or bloods or other gangs may indicate who they are with west or east or north but not usually.  So it really doesn't have much to do with sides.
