About what environmental issues do women care the most?

Hi,

I'm interested in finding out about what environmental issues matter most to moms. How important is the issue of contaminants in the water to you? Is there another environmental problem about which you care more? Are other women aware of the issue? What can be done about it? Do you feel that you have an ability to control what happens regarding contaminants in the water or do you think that this is an issue about which the government needs to take action?

Thanks!

  1. Do you feel that you have an ability to control what happens regarding contaminants in the water or do you think that this is an issue about which the government needs to take action?

The government has already created laws requiring water and sewage treatment plans to regulate BOD and hazardous chemicals in the water. Most water pollution is caused by people who ignore the laws, and they will continue to ignore new laws. Fines are $10,000 per day, which is a splashable cost for many companies.

  2. Saving animals, but only so long as they are cute and fuzzy, the snakes and cockroaches can die.

Saving the forest, but only so long as it doesn't interfere with the new house their building.

Saving the enviroment, but only so long as they can keep driving their Expeditions and Suburbans.

  3. The bigeest threat to me is how do I pay for my mortgage, feed and clothe my children, take them to school and get to work on the little amount of money that I make.

I drive a small economy car, and the cost of gasoline just to get to work is breaking my budget.

  4. I don't think that being a woman has much to do with how much I care about the environement. As a parent I want to conserve what we have for future generations, but I felt that way before my first child was born. I want to reduce pollution, and conserve natural resources. I want our children to know a natural environment better than the workings of an electronic gadget. I want people to learn about the toxins they are using to clean their houses and the harmful chemicals we put on our bodies daily.

  5. Many women are introduced to environmentalism when they have kids. They find out about something that's bad for the baby, usually a toxin in a toy, bedding, sippy cup, clothing, or food product.  Then there's what I call the Erin Brocovich effect. They learn about some environmental hazard (water pollution, powerlines...) or method (like vaccines) that's linked to cancer clusters, birth defects, leukemia, ADHD, or autism.  Then there's the whole female diseases thing.  Maybe they knew some things before they had kids, but now it's personal, so I'd have to say women are probably care most about environmental health issues.

  6. i'M A WOMAN! wELL, A GIRL I GUESS...

but i care about it all. Something as small as bees going extinct will make the world collapse. Do what you can to help!

  7. global warming, finding alternative fuel, and recycling.
