Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, has looked back on the year of 2012 and shared his thoughts on what it has meant for his club.
This year did not end well for Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815. The shot-stopper was dropped to the bench in the 3-2 defeat to Malaga in the Primera Division. This is the first time in 10 years that Casillas was benched in an important match.
Apart from the personal side, Real have not experienced the start they wanted in La Liga this season as they had many moments to forget about.
Despite all of that, Casillas is happy that his team have managed to win the Primera Division after four years.
When asked about what he remembers the most from this year, the Spanish International mentioned that winning the League and the Euro 2012 was one of the major highlights for him this year.
“Above all I remember the League title, which was very difficult after so many years.”
The Spaniard also talked about how he enjoyed being part of a team that broke all kinds of records in La Liga this year. He is urging his team-mates to keep winning and pace their objectives on what they have managed to do so far.
“This is the path that we must follow and enjoy winning a difficult and hard championship during which many records were broken and we experienced some very good times, such as winning at the Camp Nou with four or five match days left, when we practically
decided the League title.”
The 31-year-old then turned his attention on the holiday season and said that it is the time and occasion to share with your loved ones.
“It is a time to share with your loved ones, and enjoy and share anecdotes that you have from 2012.”
Finally, the Blancos captain concluded his remarks and believes this year will be a good launching pad for his club.
“It is also a good launching pad for starting 2013 in the best way possible.”
Currently the defending champions are sitting on the 3rd position and are 16 points adrift of League leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
