Above ground pool, 5,368 gallons ta problem?

i have above ground pool, 5,368 gallons...ph is 7.5 but the total alkalinity is 120. How much if any ph minus can i use to lower the ta without going below a 7.2 ph?

  2. For your pools volume- 7oz of muriatic acid will lower the pH by .29 and the TA by 5. If the pH minus is granular it is sodium bisulfate- a dry acid. 9oz of this will lower the pH by .28 and the TA by 5. Whatever you use for now here is the best method to lower your TA. Add muriatic acid- I would suggest 12oz to lower the pH to 7.0 and the TA by 9. Then aerate the water (create bubbles in the pool to release carbon dioxide which naturally raises the pH). This can be achieved by using an air compressor or shop vac, splashing, fountains, even a sprinkler- anything to create bubbles. When the pH gets back up to 7.6 lower it again. A couple of cycles of this and you should get your pH down to 90-100. 80-120 is normal range.
