Abraham Intimidates Froch to send him into retirement in the battle for the WBC super-middleweight belt
Arthur Abraham has expressed the aim to send Carl Froch into retirement when the pair would face each other in the battle for WBC super-middleweight belt in Helsinki on Saturday. This fight would constitute the latest round of the super six series and Froch
who will represent Nottingham, will try to once again name the title he had lost to Mikkel Kessler in April.
Froch, the 33-years old boxer has already hinted that he may leave the sport if he faces a second successive loss and Abraham has claimed to send him out of the ring for good. While sharing his thoughts to the correspondent of an international news channel
the later said: “After the fight, Froch can plan his retirement.”
Just like Froch, Abraham too comes into the fight off the back of his only defeat which he had suffered against Dirrell in controversial circumstances in March. In order to avenge those defeats, both of the fighters are quite desperate. Despite of the fact
that both of them have been guaranteed a place in the semi-finals of the super-middleweight tournament, Froch would seriously consider quitting the game in case he loses his fight against Abraham.
Last month, while talking about the coming fight, Froch said: “the next fight is all or nothing for me, if it doesn’t go my way I will seriously consider retirement because I am only interested in the big title fights. I won’t hang around at domestic
level.”
On the other hand, Abraham is still smarting from his defeat to Dirrell when the judges had disqualified him in the 11th round for striking the opponent on the floor when he slipped to one knee. Moreover, up until the 30-years old German based
boxer had been significantly behind on the score cards of all three judges. For him, it was indeed a frustrating way to lose the fight to avenge which, he has waited for seven long months.
The frustration of the German boxer was also admitted by Kalle Sauerland, his promoter, who had publically said that Abraham was frustrated by the postponements of the fight which was initially scheduled to take place in August before being changed to October
and then to November 27 amid the continuous arguments about venues and the injury of Froch.
Providing the insight of the matter, Sauerland further said: “Arthus is used to fighting three or four times a year, he has only fought once in 2010, was ready in August and is seriously annoyed.” Giving his own remarks about the matter, Abraham
stated that he did not like waiting seven months for one month as it was not good for him.
The pair has got a chance to face each other into the ring for WBC title as Kessler had withdrawn his name from the tournament amid the eye injury.
Highlighting the importance of the upcoming fight between the renowned boxers, Froch said that it had the potential to be one of the best of the decade due to the fact that both of them were solely committed to win; both of them were big punchers and very,
very tough men.
Totally contrary to Froch, Abraham did not bother using many words to express what he was thinking in context of the big fight. However, the spectators as well as the analysts believe that he is no lesser a warrior than Froch.
In his famous fight against Miranda, Abraham had depicted his nerve when he managed to win a points decision against the unbeaten boxer despite of having his jaw broken at two places. Amid the repetitive low blows, Miranda was deducted five points which
ultimately helped the then new comer to ultimately win the fight. This was such an awesome fight that even after four years Abraham still remembers it well.
While giving his concluding remarks regarding facing Froch on Saturday in the ring, Abraham said that though it would be a difficult fight against a fighter as good as Froch, but he had high hopes to make through it.
