Abramovich let Carlo Ancelotti go for the Holy Grail - Chelsea reasons
Arrivederci Ancelotti would not have the slightest of clues that he will be leaving the Stamford Bridge a season after he helped Chelsea get their double.
Ancelotti joined the Blues in July 2009 and helped them get the top honours in both the English Premier League and the FA Cup during the 2009/10 season. Chelsea had achieved a double title position for the first time in their history.
In return, “I would like to thank Carlo for the League and FA Cup double. I will never forget his contribution to our club's history. I wish him the best in his future endeavours unless it’s against us,” was all that Arrivederci Carlo had to give back to
the much acclaimed manager.
This is Ancelotti’s sole consolation after the curtain was dropped on him so quickly.
Some fans have felt that their former coach has been dealt with unjust and call the treatment harsh. The sacking came moments after Chelsea were drubbed 1-0 by Everton in their last match of the English Premier League. They may not have been on the top of
the table but they still were the second best team in the top flight.
To bitter-sweet it, Chelsea were given a hard shove up the ladder by the dismal performances from Arsenal. Yet Arsene Wenger still stands. It is a luxury only offered to Wenger in this coming season which has seen almost six managers’s rendered jobless.
Ultimately, that was not enough for the Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich had brought Ancelotti as a UEFA Champions League specialist. During his stay of eight years with AC Milan, Ancelloti had managed to win more Champions League titles than Serie A titles. Unlike Manchester City owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin
Sultan Al Nahyan, Abramovich does not have that big of a kitty that could have him be patient with Ancelotti. The Russian wants his prized club to ultimately hold the Holy Grail of club football. Winning the UEFA Champions League is top on his list.
His failure to do so with Chelsea probably was amongst the deciding factors for Abramovich to put Ancelotti in the unemployment sector.
Ancelotti repeated the mistake of his predecessor, José Mourinho, when he had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Shevchenko-c6014. Shevchenko was bought for £30.8 million.
Mildly put, it was a slap on the Russian’s face on both occasions – an obvious reason to let the two managers go on each instance.
Ancelotti may have had a better chance with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. He also lost his dressing room after Wilkins was let go. It is evident from the fact that the old horses ran even when they were highly
ineffective (read Lampard).
Yes Ancelotti has his faults. He tends to go in to a limbo every time his team is under attack. The defeats at the hands of Sunderland and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 were not only shocking but also questioned his ability of devising a Plan B. To be honest, he never seemed
to have it. This season, he was outfoxed by his opponents one time too many.
Whatever reasons we may have to justify Ancelotti’s departure, the Russian owner has his own plans. The sacking of Ancelotti is probably the start of overhauling process initiated by Abramovich. The club will see more changes. There will be sales and even
more there will be acquisitions to fit the plans.
All in all, the Blues fans hope and pray in anticipation of better things to come.
Abramovich will be thinking much more than that. He probably thinks that he has gained with Ancelotti’s firing.
But absurdly enough, Ancelotti too has walked out of this as a winner in his own dignified right. He has the complete backing of the media. He should easily be able to land himself a role in Europe this summer.
