Abramovich lining up Guus Hiddink as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement, Mourinho linked with a return to Stamford Bridge
Sources reveal Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is considering bringing Guus Hiddink back to Stamford Bridge to replace Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has not been doing too well in his second season with the Blues, after having led them to their first double
in the first season. Chelsea are currently on fifth position in the Premier League table in what has been their worst slump in over 15 years.
Having recently been eliminated from the FA Cup by Everton, Chelsea are now just in contention for the Champions League and it is almost certain Ancelotti will be on his way out if the Blues do not manage to lift the European Cup this season.
It is understood Ancelotti is under immense pressure to bring the much desired Champions League trophy to Stamford Bridge. Abramovich seemed to think if anyone could do it, it was the former AC Milan manager.
The Russian billionaire is having second thoughts and is seriously considering asking Guus Hiddink to take charge of the London club. The Dutchman spent a total of three months at Stamford Bridge as a caretaker manager after Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked,
coming in at a time when there were no hopes of the Blues winning any silverware and delivered the FA Cup.
However, chances are Abramovich will wait out this season since Hiddink is already contracted to the Turkey national side. His contract expires at the end of summer, which would be a good time to make a move for the Dutch coach if need be. Sacking Ancelotti
at this point would not necessarily be the best of decisions, since there is no guarantee Hiddink will agree to take up the caretaker position once again and it will be adding uncertainty to a squad which needs stability.
Another manager, which the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 supporters would love to see is Jose Mourinho, who recently spoke to the media about his relationship with his former employers.
According to rumors, Mourinho stint at the Bernabeu seems short, even though his contract will expire after three years. The Real Madrid coach admitted that football was very unpredictable and that he had nothing but love for his previous clubs.
The self proclaimed ‘special one’ said while speaking to reporters, “I don't know. I love Chelsea. I was the happiest man [when there]. I was thinking to be there all my life and a few months later, I was out. So you never know. In Inter Milan I found an
incredible family. Then after two years I felt it was over. When I sign a contract, I sign with the intention to respect the contract and be happy.”
Mourinho left Stamford Bridge under very unsure circumstances, it is still not certain if he was sacked or made the decision to leave. He was one of the best managers the London club has ever had and his return would be welcomed.
The same would be with Hiddink returning to take a more permanent position at Stamford Bridge, but it remains to be seen what Abramovich decides on. It would be a good decision to stick with Ancelotti, who had a bad season with the Blues but has an impressive
record otherwise.
He won the Champions League with AC Milan twice, among other things. If he is given time he will undoubtedly lift the Blues and lead them to winning ways.
