Question:

Abrasion scar not going away.?

Last December, I had the misfortune of horseback riding in capris, and for some reason i had an older rougher stirrup than usual (i was using western as opposed to english that day).

For two hours, the stirrup rubbed my calf raw and i had a hugeee scab for about a month, then finally it went away.

Now, almost 9 months later, i still have the scar from the abrasion.

Is there anything i can put on it to get rid of it?? I mean, i have deep cut scars that healed faster than this.

I guess its because i have drier than usual skin, though its not flakey or anything, i just don't use lotion.

Any recommendations??

  1. I would recommend that you use a good moisturizing lotion such as Cetaphil or Jergens. It is available at CVS Pharmacy for less than $10 a tube. It is  a little expensive, but does not have perfumes. I would also recommend that you use a good body wash that is not going to dry your skin out. If it is red, get some green concealer to put on it. Green neutralizes red. You may also ask the pharmacist what to use or see what your doctor recommends. There is also a very expensive product called Mederma (over $30) that is supposed to get rid of scars. It is also available at CVS Pharmacy. I hope this helps you. And remember, don't wear capris when you go horseback riding. They aren't long enough to protect your legs.
