i have had a cracked tooth for over 4 yrs. I am suppose to get it pulled but I have dentist-phobia. Everytime I went to the dentist I would lay down on the bed and get up w an asthma attack. I have tried it about 5 times and i gave up. I have no pain at all, but today I have a abscess next to teh broken tooth. I know is serious but what happens when there is no pain? can i wait a nother month till i get my insurance? thanks!

  1. What will happen is you NEED to go on antibiotics ASAP..people have died from tooth infections...you should ask the dentist if they can give you gas or a sleeping pill so you won't be as anxious..if you don't want to take medication try seeing a therapist

  2. Same thing happened to me! When my tooth abscessed, I went to the dentist and she would not touch it because at that point it was too infected. She referred me to a OMF surgeon.  It would have been worse if I'd waited.

    GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

  3. You need to have that abcess tended to immediately.  Many dentists offer conscious sedation.  You don't feel a thing.  I have dentalphobia as well, had major oral surgery and never felt a thing.  Go get it taken care of ASAP.  You can also ask the dentist to prescribe a mild tranquilizer to take before your appointment so you don't freak out.
