I live in a building in Niagara Falls N.Y.,The landlord lives in another state. I got to know a neighobrs aquaintance and found he's an intraveinous drug user. This neighbor called me while at a party and asked if I was home. I came home and the next day i noticed chipped paint off my apt door. I have since told this neighbor to go his way n ill go mine as far as knowing him goes and the landlord says he cant do anything about it till he actually breaks in . What can I do about the addict neighbor and what can i do about the absent landlord? I've lived here for 5 years and should'nt have to consider moving please anyone help. I'm scared to leave my home because the bad neighbor can see when everyone leaves and returns....HELP!!!! I feel a report made on circumstantial evidence is a waste of time and the landlord is useless.

  1. I agree that neither the landlord or even the police can really do anything based on your suspicion someone may break in.  Not really sure of anything you can do aside from moving or getting a dog or something.  Sorry but no crime has been committed yet, nothing can be done on suspicion a crime may get committed.

  2. i think you need to be prepared to move.

before you do, you could ask the landlord what kind of tenants he wants?

you, who've been paying rent for 5 years?

    or druggies?

if he starts making excuses, it's not going to get better until it gets worse, maybe lots worse.

and you likely don't want to be there then.
