Question:

Absent owner?

I am the sole mod of a group. The owner has two emails, one's bouncing and the other is set to no email. I've tried emailing both emails and received replies back saying the accounts no longer work. How can I make myself the owner of the group in the face of the loss of the owner?

  1. You can't.  Start a new group and invite all the people in the current group to your group.  The ones that want to will follow you.

  2. you can not become the owner, unless the owner appoints you to that. Yahoo will also not step in to help on this, either. there is nothing you can do for that group. sorry. many many groups are also in that same boat

  3. You can't. Only the owner has the privilege to "grant" you the ownership.

(How do I remove myself as a group moderator/owner? How do I make somebody else the group owner?

The best solution I guess is to start a new group of your own and invite all the members of the old group to your new group - or if you have their permission, add their mail addresses directly to your new group.
