What's up with this stuff. I see it's legal here now, so im wondering if it's worth plopping down $50 for the stuff.

what's did it do to you when you tried it? it looks like its fun to bring to a party.

  1. yeah I've had to call an ambulance for a girl (20year old) one new years eve. she was drinking it straight she was fine one minute and passed out breathing weird the next be careful of that stuff especially that %70 stuff. but yeah i like to have a shot or two of it, it burns like h**l and tastes like aniseed. I'd split a bottle between a few of you.

  2. True Absinthe is still not legal in the US. The stuff you see at the liquor store is made with synthetic wormwood - not the real stuff.  The REAL stuff causes cancer, and hallucinations (green fairies anyone??)  The stuff in the US will NOT cause the same effects as the stuff you would buy in Europe.

    Buyer beware.

  3. I have tried it. I wouldn't pay that much for it, but I'm not a big fan of licorice.

The stuff we sell in the US DOES have wormwood in it. It was legalized at the end of last year. Up til then, there were a few products that used a synthetic, BUT NOW THAT IT'S LEGAL THEY USE THE REAL STUFF.

It will not make you hallucinate, it never did. The stories you have heard were all hype blown out of proportion and propaganda by the wine and gin traders whose profits were being decimated by absinthe over 100 years ago.
