  1. IIRC, it's illegal to sell absinthe in the US, as well as illegal to ship to the US for private consumption.

You're not that far from Canada. Maybe their laws are different?

  2. You can't buy locally - it's illegal to sell in the US. You can however, buy it. You'll have to buy it from Canada or somewhere forgein. Check out http://www.absinthesupply.net/av.html   You can learn alot about it and also purchase it through them.

  3. well, you'd have to order it probably... i think it's illegal here in the U.S.  but i'm not 100% on that.  but you can find a bottle online like for like $40

  4. time travel to 1880s france, I don't think it's been available since the impressionists drank the stuff like water

  5. Lookin' for th' Green Fairy are ya?

    Try absinthebuyersguide.com

  6. There is an alcohol, although I think it's more like a liquer, that is legal.  Not all liquor stores have it though, and I think it's pretty expensive.  I've only had it once, and it tasted like very strong licorice mixed with very strong mint.  It wasn't very good, and it got me obliterated.  I have a pretty high tolerance, and I did have a few beers before I tried it, but I won't ever drink it again.  It was scary how messed up I was after just one drink.

  7. Here is the Lucid website.  After you verify your age, they have a page where you can check store listings.

Pay no attention to anyone who tells you its illegal, it became legal in the USA at the end of last year! (they are a client of mine)!

  8. thought that was illegal

  9. There are two types of Absinthe, neither of which can be purchased in the US. The first type of Absinthe contains thujone which was a psychoactive chemical orginally found in the liquor. This type of Absinthe has been outlawed in the US and customs generally does a good job of keeping people from importing it into the US. Sorry to say, your best bet is going to be going to Amsterdam, where Absinthe was leagalized in 2004.

The other type of Absinthe is the liquor without thujone and is essentially Jaegermeister. I have never seen this type in the US either. (But you're probably not interested in this one)

  10. I've bought from http://www.absinth.com/ many times in the past. Check your laws though; while it's illegal to buy/sell, you are allowed to import a certain amount.
