Absinthe favourite for M&S Money Handicap
Absinthe has been rated as hot favourite for the M&S Money Handicap at Chester in England on Thursday, May 10, 2012. The winner of the class-2 event will be awarded a cash prize of £14,177.
The going will be soft in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 75 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 13:35 GMT. A total of 11 runners had lined up for action at Chester and their names are as follows: King´s Warrior, Absinthe, Robemaker, Opera Gal, Call To Reason,
Oceanway, The Bells O Peover, Flag Officer, Cry Fury, Pekan Star and Area Fifty One.
Out of the above mentioned runners Flag Officer, Cry Fury, Pekan Star and Area Fifty One are doubtful for the race. All four of them had the potential to win today, but they will have to wait for another opportunity.
Looking at the overall statistics of the other horses, it seems that Absinthe has a very good chance of winning the race, thus the bookmakers have awarded him with pretty decent odds. His form will definitely encouraged the punters to place the maximum number
of bets in his favour.
The six-year-old gelding has participated in 20 races until now, winning four of them and finishing runner up on the six times. Moreover, he has also managed to secure the third spot on five occasions, which shows that he is fully capable of fighting for
victories.
The Donald McCain’s trainee was quite impressive in his most recent race, as he finished on top of the table in it. He was rated as the favourite to win and did not allow anyone else to come closer in the end, winning by 13 lengths.
Absinthe will be partnered by Graham Lee, who is relatively new to the sport, but has enjoyed some success at this level. His overall strike rate is quite impressive, which will help him attract a few bets in his favour.
On the other hand, King´s Warrior also has a decent record, thus he might manage to spring up a surprise in the race. He has entered seven events until now, winning just one of them. He is carrying terrific momentum at the moment, as he ended up second in
his most recent outing.
