Absolute value and radical expressions...?

Hi, i need help with just a few problems. Recently coming back from vacation and starting math class has put my brain to sleep :/

( | <--- this symbol = Absolute value sign just to clarify)

1) | Radical 5 - 3 |

2) | 7 - pi |

3) 4Radical 40 x 4Radical 250 (The integer 4 is the little number above the radical sign on the left)

I would appreciate any help at all...thank you :)

  1. 1) |√5  - 3| = 3 - √5 since √5 is near 2.2 and 3 is bigger

    so √5 - 3 is negative

    2)|7 - π|  = 7 - π   since π is approximately 3.14 so

    7- π is postive

    3) This would equal the 4th root of 1000
