Abu Dhabi GP: A look at the first practice session
The two Red Bull drivers demonstrated great pace once again. Like many of the previous practice sessions all through the season, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber led the rally of the cars at the first
practice on Friday ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this Sunday.
Fleeing his RB6 across the Yas Marina Circuit, Vettel marked the fastest lap of the day in just 1'42.760s as he cruised through the track to complete 18 laps. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren
had been the second fastest man of the morning as he marked his best in 1'43.369s while completing 16 laps.
Vettel has been the strongest man on Fridays and Saturdays all through the season and has already won the pole position nine times this year. On the other hand, his teammate, Mark Webber ended this practice
session at fourth place, completing 19 laps while the fastest one was covered in 1'43.840s.
The other McLaren driver, Jenson Button who is already out of the tug for the title ended right behind his teammate at third place. Before heading for the practice session, the title defender talked to
the media saying that he is only looking forward to an exciting last round of the season.
Meanwhile, Robert Kubica was fast in his Renault as he marked the 5th fastest lap in 1'44.080s.
The charts’ topper, Fernando Alonso, who currently stands as the strongest contender for the championship, ended the first practice at 6th place completing 17 laps, stamping the fastest one
in 1'44.121s.
The seven times world champion, Michael Schumacher, was fast enough to end at 7th place while Kamui Kobayashi followed him in his BMW Sauber for the 8th spot.
The other Mercedes GP driver, Nico Rosberg parked his car at 9th
position, marking his best lap in 1'44.718s, a place ahead of Nick Heidfeld, the other BMW Sauber driver.
Although the second Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa ended at 11th place, yet is hopeful to do far better in the next practice.
Rubens Barrichello parked his Williams at 13th place after facing retirement while his teammate Nico Hülkenberg ended at 17th
place. Both the force India drivers, Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi marked 15th and 16th places, ahead of the three rookie teams, Lotus, HRT and Virgin.
The second practice session is scheduled to take place at 13 GMT.
