Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Teamwise qualifying analysis (Part 2)
Ferrari
The Ferrari’s ace Fernando Alonso ended the qualifying at third place with his fastest lap in 1m 39.792s, while his teammate Felipe Massa marked 6th place on the grid with his fastest lap in 1m 40.202s.
The third place finish on the gird make the charts’ topper, Alonso very happy as Massa helped him once again during the qualifying by allowing him to go ahead on their final laps just before the chequered flag fell down. This made
the Spaniard jump from fifth to third, leaving his tough competitor Webber and the 2009 champion Jenson Button behind at 4th and 5th place.
Williams
The Williams driver, Rubens Barrichello was the fastest after the top three teams, securing 7th place for him with his best time of 1m 40.203s, while his teammate Nico Hulkenberg was only able to settle at 15th position
in his 1m 41.418s’ lap.
At the last round in Brazil, Hulkenberg was miraculously fast and saved the first pole of his career however, this time Barrichello got the most out of his FW32.
The team had a pretty tough night in their garage after the Friday practice to improve the Barichello’s package and this paid the driver brilliantly.
Mercedes GP
The winner of both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship last year under the title of Brawn GP is hoping to pack up the season at a perfect note.
After having the best finish of the season last week in Brazil by ending at 4th place, the team driver, Michael Schumacher is looking ahead for another superb weekend before wrapping up the season. At the qualifying
he marked 8th grid place while his teammate and the fellow countryman, Nico Rosberg booked 9th place.
Although the team was expecting better starting places for the race yet the qualifying demonstrated good performance of the car and the team is looking forward for a very strong performance by both the drivers to seal the year.
Renault
Other than the top three teams of the season, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren, Renault had been the quickest especially its driver Robert Kubica demonstrated some excellent performances.
However, the last qualifying of the season saw Vitaly Petrov faster than his teammate with his best lap in 1m 40.901s marking 10thplace on the grid followed by Kubica’s 11th position.
Petrov’s dominance on the track over Kubica came as a surprise for the team as the Russian looked sluggish at the early laps and was only able to gain momentum during the final moments of the session. On the other hand, although
Kubica was pretty fast during the Friday’s practices yet he was not able to show the same form during qualifying.
BMW Sauber
Kamui Kobayashi hoped to do better but the altered brake material offered problems on the track allowing only 12th place. At the same time, his teammate Nick Heidfeld has been pretty satisfied by the 14th place
finish and is looking forward for a stronger race weekend.
Force India
The last race of the season is very crucial for the team. Since the upcoming season is going to see the first Indian Grand Prix, the team principal urged both the team drivers to earn as many points as they can and end the current
season at a positive note.
The team driver, Adrian Sutil, has been one of the strongest drivers in the middle order all thorough the season. Although a stronger qualifying was expected from him yet he is satisfied by his 13th position while his
teammate Tonio Liuzzi qualified for 16thposition.
Toro Rosso
The junior team owned by the Red Bull beverages, Toro Rosso, saw one of its drivers Jaime Alguersuari park at 17th place in 1m 41.738s. While the other team driver, Sebastien Buemi followed him for 18th place.
