The agent of the Manchester City star has lashed out at Michel Platini for not doing enough to stamp out racism from the game and especially the Euro 2012.
Platini was on record to have said that the referees have been advised to book those players who choose to walk away after hearing racial abuse or slurs. The Frenchman also stated that the decision of forfeiting the game laid with the referee, if the referee
believes that there have been racial taunts then they can call the game off.
Mario Balotelli’s agent has given his views on the issue and stated that the Frenchman did not seem as serious about dealing with the issue as it should be.
Raiola went on to state that the views by the UEFA chairman were surprising and disappointed him, along with many others. He mentioned that Balo was a strong lad and he knew how to deal when involved in such instances, however, he went on to state that there
should have been a stronger response by the European body, and went on to state:
"Mario is the kind of lad where this kind of abuse glides off his back but I was very disappointed with what http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Platini said and a lot of people are with me on that. I can't say I'm surprised by the reaction, though.”
He strongly felt that the former Juventus legend had not done enough to make any improvements to the issue of racism in European football. He compared the reactions by the UEFA chief with the English FA, and the English body has impressed Raoila far more
than UEFA.
During his interview, he went on to state:
"I have had meetings with the [English] FA and they've been very proactive. They are ahead of other countries in Europe."
There were allegations of racist slurs in the Italy-Spain clash, when the two sides met in the PGE Arena in Gdansk, where Balotelli was being called a monkey. There was a small group of 200 Spanish supporters, who were chanting the slurs. What was good to
know was that the rest of the Spanish contingent told the group off.
