  1. You need to provide more information.

    Blower capacity of the heater?

AIrflow capacity of the ducts? (duct sizes and count of registers)

    Size of filter?

Any modern AC system is compatible with the Goodman furnace as long as the Goodman furnace haas the blower capacity for the size AC being installed. The ducts and airflow capacity must be sized properly for the AC being installed also.

  2. For optimum performance, you should stick with Goodman. This is more important because of the metering devise used in the evaporator. It should match the outdoor unit. If you get another brand, they would be guessing at the correct metering devise. You also have to be able to know if your furnace blower is capable of handling the increased BTU capacity of the new larger unit. It's not as simple as just changing the condenser to a larger unit.

  3. The outside unit is matched to the inside unit, I would get three estimates and have them look the whole system over not just outside. Your coil in the house might not be able to work well with the new 13 SEER equipment. Remember this is a total system and all parts must be right to make it work properly. What is the condition of the inside coil, is it clean and no freon leaks. Any equipment will work as long as you match the BTU rating and SEER rating.

  4. If the inside coil is a half ton bigger than your outdoor coil, you will get more cooling and more latent(moisture)heat removal.

You cannot make the outdoor coil larger or make the indoor coil any more than a half ton larger or it won't work.

Look at the model nubers of both and verify the size.

Maybe there is something else going on.
