Academic year of the Netherlands?

I am planning to study in the Netherlands, due to some reason,i can only apply for spring semester starts in 2009. The university indicates that an academic year runs from september to august, in this case, do i choose academic year from 2008 to 2009? Thanks!

If the Uni only runs courses from Sept to August (and only enrols students to start from Sept each year) then you have to choose 2009-2010, and start in Sept 2009
